In general, certain markets tend to favor particular types of samples. Swatch books and headers work well for drapery and upholstery fabrics, showing large pattern repeats while keeping big swatches organized. Hang tags and other ring samples are also useful for home fashions, when you need a set of small swatches that can be taken away. Apparel, vinyl and bedding manufacturers and wholesalers often choose sample cards, but cards are often the best choice for other markets too. Simple to make, handle and mail, sample cards, individually or in binders, can show a full range of styles and colors at a glance.
Of course, we sometimes make swatch books and hang tags for apparel markets, or headers for large bedding displays. Most of our products can be suitable for any textile. There are only a few factors that might limit your choice of sample. For example, the size and/or repeat of a pattern may require a large sample format, either a book or a header with hanging samples. Velvets don’t lend themselves to stacking, so a book or waterfall arrangement would not be recommended. A sheer fabric won’t show its true color when laid over another swatch, so waterfall samples may need to be double folded or separated with paper slips.
